Product Designer Intern (Collaborated with another designer)

Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator
In the summer of 2023, I worked as a product designer intern at Elite Gaming Lives (EGL) which is an educational technology company. It believes in fostering educational opportunities through video games that also promote positive interactions and community support. My job was to turn the words-based learning content into webpages with engaging interactions and photos. The project I was handed was to introduce learners to what game artistry is and the career of game artists.
Numerous research studies have shown that American students’ reading proficiency has whoppingly dropped these few years. Reading has been more and more difficult for them due to a lack of concentration and motivation. However, most of the learning content nowadays is still word-based with extremely long passages.
Our team aims to design learning content that is more interesting and engaging by including visually appealing photos, UI designs, and cool animations. Incorporating the multimedia learning principle, we believe students are more likely to enjoy learning and absorb the knowledge.
K-12 students are mainly the target users of EGL’s products.
I always make sure to include corresponding pictures or videos along with the texts. By applying the multimedia design principle, it can create an engaging and accessible learning experience.
Our newly designed products have not gone through any usability tests from our customers. The process is important so that we can know what challenges the users face while using the product and further iterate our designs based on their feedback.
To follow through with EGL’s design system and continue to elevate the engagement of the designs.
